Why is there Dancing QueensFor Bettina Gimenez, it was the logical consequence of a years-long search. "I simply couldn't find any modern dance shoes in Switzerland that truly convinced me, and importing them was always complicated," she explains. As a passionate dancer, she no longer wanted to compromise. Together with Sophie Köster, she took matters into her own hands – and founded [company name]. Dancing Queens. The two met at HelloFresh and were determined to start an online shop. It quickly became clear that they wanted to sell something that was a real pain point for at least one of them, because then it's sure to be a pain point for others as well. 


From the outset, the mission was clear: dancers don't just need any old pair of shoes, but models that meet multiple requirements – suitability for spinning, stability, indoor and outdoor use, as well as being fashionable and comfortable. "Almost all of us have been part of the dance community for decades, travel to over 20 international events a year, and know the scene inside and out," explains Bettina. "That's why we knew something was missing – and we wanted to create exactly that."

From online shop to global brand

It started Dancing Queens as a specialized online dance shop for all dance styles. But the vision grew quickly. "Through the successful launch of our own brand “We realized that we could be more – and had to be,” says Sophie. Today, the two founders speak of nothing less than the goal of becoming the most influential global performance dance brand.

“We want to offer the perfect solution for every dance style – with quality, innovation, and shoes that can be individually adjusted,” adds Sophie. It's no longer just about shoes, but about a brand that combines community, lifestyle, and performance – a true love brand.

30,000 customers in 60 countries

How do you achieve global success in just a few years? For the founders, the answer lies in passion, know-how, and team spirit. "We have a team that is equally passionate about dance and..." Dancing Queens “Baby is as passionate as we are. Every single person puts their heart and soul into it – and that’s exactly what our customers feel,” says Bettina.


Added to this are clear strengths: product development and design as a differentiating factor, a centralized warehouse in Germany, in-depth knowledge of performance marketing, and a close connection to the community. "Our shop is more than a platform – it's our heart and soul," Sophie summarizes.

Looking ahead

Standing still is not an option for the founders. Over the next two years, they plan to strategically expand the Dancing Queens portfolio – including outdoor products. Simultaneously, expansion into Europe and later into the USA is on the agenda.


“We are planning to establish a company in Europe in order to sell internationally on large marketplaces like Zalando or Decathlon. And from 2027 onwards, we want to conquer the US market,” explains Sophie.


B2B also plays an important role: Shop-in-shop concepts The project has already launched in cities like Baden, Basel, and Lucerne, and further collaborations with dance schools and shops across Europe are planned. "The potential is enormous, and we want to Dancing Queens “Make it visible wherever people are dancing,” says Bettina.
