The idea for the SMOVE Dance Sneakers It actually came about quite naturally – right in the middle of the dance scene. During the Corona pandemic, dance sneakers became increasingly popular. Brands like Rumpf Fuego launched their models and suddenly many dancers discovered how pleasant it can be to dance for hours without having sore feet.

We at Dancing Queens We were instant fans. Dance sneakers are perfect for social dancing, long festivals, or dancing outdoors on all kinds of surfaces. And in Sharon's case, there was another, very personal reason: As a tall dancer, it sometimes just feels better not to be standing even higher in heels. But as much as we loved dance sneakers, there was one problem we kept encountering. You sweated incredibly much in these shoes. Many models weren't very breathable. After a few hours of dancing, they became warm, uncomfortable—and eventually, simply not fresh anymore. So we asked ourselves a question: Why isn't there a dance sneaker that truly meets all the needs of dancers?

Our first SMOVE Dance Sneaker

Together with Rumpf We developed our first own shoe: the SMOVE Dance Sneaker Made of linen. It was lightweight, breathable, and incredibly comfortable – and it was a huge hit with you all from the start. Many dancers loved it, even though we knew it wasn't perfect yet. The fit was a bit more generous, and together with our community, we learned how to work with that. But it quickly became clear to us: this was just the beginning. We wanted more. We wanted to develop the kind of dance sneaker we had always dreamed of ourselves.

This led to the creation of new versions with our own optimized sole, elegant details in gold and silver, and new colors like beige and gray. But even that was just another step on our journey. Our goal was a dance sneaker that was not only comfortable but truly focused on the needs of dancers.

Listen, learn, improve

We sold our SMOVE sneakers online, in our shop, and at numerous dance festivals. We've now sold SMOVE in over 60 countries and shipped several thousand pairs. But above all, this journey brought us into direct contact with countless dancers. And it was there that we received the most valuable thing of all: honest feedback from you. You told us:

The fit could be more precise.
Some sneakers don't go well with elegant outfits.
Some models make you sweat too much.
Some shoes start to smell quickly.

A new chapter: the journey to China

To further develop our vision, a new adventure began for us. Sophie and Bettina traveled to China to visit various production facilities and gain a better understanding of the manufacturing process.

Today, China is one of the leading locations for the processing of modern high-tech materials and innovative vegan leather alternatives – exactly the technologies we want to use for our dance sneakers.

On site, we were able to speak with the people who make these shoes, closely examine the production process, and understand the materials and processes in detail. At the same time, we ensured that the working conditions and standards on site met our own requirements and that we could stand behind them with complete conviction.

And we can honestly say: We wholeheartedly stand behind our production.

Know-how we could only dream of

Another stroke of luck led us to people associated with a well-known German shoe company. This collaboration gave us access to decades of experience in fit, materials, and shoe design—know-how we could previously only dream of. But that was just the beginning of the real work.

Test. Dance. Improve.

Sample after sample was developed. We tested the shoes everywhere: on dance floors, outdoors, in training, at socials, and at festivals. We took them to dance schools, let you—our community—try them out, and gathered feedback. We improved details, adjusted the fit, optimized materials, and kept working. Again and again. Until we were truly satisfied.
